The system that i chose to use for my system design was "Performing a successful hunt" and the steps leading up to doing so. This process is fairly specific, but theres a few ways that you can modify it. In my Twine game, i explained how to perform a successful hunt when deer hunting. Although, not everyone just hunts deer. The process for performing a successful hunt will change depending on what animal you are trying to harvest. For example, let's say we are hunting turkeys. there are a number of changes that will need to be made such as the location, the weapon you use, what calls you use, and what type of area you set up in. For turkey hunting, hunters are likely to focus on field edges generally close to the turkey's roosting area. the roosting are is where the turkeys sleep up in the trees at night. Field edges are preferable because the turkeys often come out to graze for worms, grass, and other forage around first light in the mornings. In the weapon aspect of things, deer hunters will use either a rifle that shoots a long way or a shotgun that shoots a slug and creates one big hole. When turkey hunting, the weapon of choice is a shotgun with "bird shot" ammunition, which is basically multiple small BB's inside of one shell casing. These BB's then expand so that they cover a larger area, as you are aiming at the tiny head of a turkey. Although this type of bullet will have a wider shot, it is very inaccurate at distances further than 50 yards. In terms of calling for turkeys, it is actually very similar to calling for deer, except the sound is a completely different animal. When calling for deer, we use a grunt or a bleat call. The grunt is meant to simulate the sound a buck (male) makes when it wants to fight or is looking for a doe. The bleat is meant to simulate the sound a doe (female) makes when it is in heat and searching for a buck. This is very similar to turkey calling as we use a gobble box call or a mouth call for clucking and yelping. The gobble box is meant to simulate the loud thunder like sound that a tom (male) will make when he is ready for a fight or searching for a hen. The clucking and yelping mouth calls are used to simulate the hen (female) calling to her poults (baby turkeys) or when she is ready to mate and letting the tom know her location. Lastly, the area in which a hunter will set up for turkey hunting is far different from where they will set up for deer hunting. As i discussed in my Twine game, deer hunters will set up in a tree stand or a ground blind and sit all day in one spot. When turkey hunting, the hunter usually will just sit down at the base of the tree and call for about 15 minutes, then once a turkey responds, they will move to a location closer to where they heard it. Turkey hunting is more about the chase rather than catching them at the right place at the right time. Overall, the process to performing a successful hunt can vary based on your intended harvest. this was a simple way of explaining how a hunter would modify this process when hunting for wild turkeys instead of whitetail deer.
